Carpe Diem is the Latin phrase meaning seize the day. The idea of Transcendentalism is all about taking chances, and living in the moment. Which is why I chose this piece of artwork. The background in this picture represents transcendentalism, because it is showing the beauty of nature and shows how living in the moment shows how we relate to nature.

The impact of transcendentalism can be found in almost every aspect of modern life even though it might not be obvious at first. Lately I have struggled with coming up with another connection to transcendentalism. In reality i have not had much time to research, because this time of year always gets crazy for me. However, the idea struck me just the other day that this book I read a year or two ago for summer reading seemed to incorporate some of the tenets for transcendentalism.
